An incident in which shots were fired in a residential area of Co Tyrone could have had serious consequences, police said.
Investigators are asking for information following a report of gunfire in the Lake View Cottages area of Ardboe on Sunday evening.
A police spokesman said: “Shortly before 10.15pm it was reported that shots had been fired in the area.
“Damage was done to a front window and windows at the back of a house were also smashed.
“No one was inside the property at the time.
“Inquiries are ongoing and we are also investigating reports that masked men have been seen in the area.
“Fortunately, no one was injured in what can only be described as a reckless attack, which could have had serious consequences.
“We are calling on anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in the area or who may have doorbell or mobile phone recordings to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1862 of 25/09/22.”
SDLP MP Patsy McGlone said the attack was “incredibly reckless”.
He said: “This attack on a house in a residential area is deeply distressing for the local community who want to be able to live their lives in peace without being disturbed.
“We are fortunate that no one was seriously injured or worse in this incident, but significant damage was done to the house in question.
“There is no place for masked men to roam our streets and opening fire on a house in a built-up area is incredibly reckless, showing no respect for the people living in that area or their safety.”
