Gas leak in residential area near Morgan Hill forces evacuations

A natural gas leak near Morgan Hill prompted evacuations in a residential area Thursday evening, authorities said.

Evacuations were underway in the Stonebridge Drive and Stonebridge Court area shortly after 8 p.m., Cal Fire’s Santa Clara unit said.

Shortly after 10:15 p.m., Cal Fire said staff at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. stopped the leak.

Firefighters were due to be released soon after, Cal Fire officials said.
