With work well underway for a brand new Aldi off Colwick Loop Road, residents living in a housing estate on the same site said they couldn’t wait for the new store to open. The new budget supermarket branch is being built on Teal Park and the steel shell of the structure is taking shape.
It is being built atop the Rivendell housing estate, located on land between Netherfield and Burton Joyce, with the latest update revealing earlier in the year that at least 220 of the 830 homes expected on this site have already been built . And residents who have already moved into their homes on Magenta Way on the estate can’t wait to see the store open.

Will Hobson, 36, said: “We’ve been shopping at Aldi for years, and having one so close will be a godsend, as soon as I heard there was one I thought it “was perfect. The neighborhood is nice but it’s a construction site at the moment when the works are finished, there are a lot of couples with children. Our neighbors are nice and friendly.
Hannah Ransome, 33, said: “We can’t wait, we use the Lidl’s and Morrisons just down the road so it will be ideal for us to walk. Everyone is really friendly here and it’s a such a beautiful community.”
As part of the Rivendell development, a new pub was planned, but this has now been abandoned in favor of a new building materials store. A new school is being built on the site.
Harry Buxton, 33, added: “It’s great, it’s good that this stuff is popping up here. Everyone is really nice here and we’re very settled.”
