Detective Sergeant Wilson said: ‘Shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday September 20, a report was received of a burning vehicle outside a house in the Tudor Oaks area of the city.
“Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
“It was reported that a number of men, dressed in dark colored clothing, were seen getting out of a van and smashing the vehicle before setting it on fire.
“They were then seen setting fire to the front door of the property.
“The incident resulted in extensive damage to the door, with the porch almost completely destroyed and smoke damage throughout the house.
“The vehicle was also completely destroyed.
“Fortunately, there was no one home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
“Our investigations into this incident, which we are treating as arson with intent to endanger life, are continuing, and we are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help us come forward.
